The Putnam County Board of Commissioners made some big decisions on Friday, Dec. 4 during their first meeting of the month. There were two special reports, one from Putnam County High School’s JROTC and ESG/EPSWA. Then with the absence of Commissioner Wooten, Commissioners Irvin, Brown and Chairman Webster voted on changes to the zoning chapter of the code of ordinances.

Read moreNational Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame coach and Eatonton native, Dr. Glenn Wilkes, died at age 91 on Saturday, Nov. 21, a week shy of his 92 birthday. Wilkes is survived by his wife, Jan, and his six children: Glenn Jr., Scott, Tom, Rob, Tarra and Angel.

Sheriff Howard Sills met with the family members on Nov. 19 to present the findings of his investigation into the incident. Eatonton Mayor John Reid and his wife, Councilwoman Janie Reid, also attended the meeting.
