After shaking off the rust on a new basketball season, the Gatewood Gators’ programs are starting to find their way, get their balance and finding production from a number of players. Last week may have been a strong indicator of things to come as both the boys and girls swept Glascock County in non-region action Thursday and returned to the hardwoods in a road match with region foe Edmund Burke and duplicated the effort on Friday night.
Read moreLast Tuesday, the Putnam County wrestling team continued its impressive and much improved season from 2020 when the War Eagles rolled into Milledgeville and GMC and handily defeated GMC 48-33 and Trinity Christian 51-15. The 2-0 mark improved the Putnam season record to 9-10. The young Mat Eagles were 3-12 last year so growth and success is omnipresent.

Read moreThe Gatewood School varsity shot gun team claimed its 7th state championship last week at the Forest City Gun Club in Savannah, besting Westwood by seven skeets. The varsity has seven straight State Championships in a row and set a GISA Sports History Record in the process. The Gatewood Middle School won their first ever State Championship and it was the 1st time in GISA history that both teams won a state championship in the same sport in the same year.
