On September 29, 2021, Bunnie Lockhart (born Mary Elise Hendrix) died in her home in Milledgeville, Georgia, at the age of 65.

At Bunnie’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.

Bunnie was born on May 5, 1956 in Aiken, South Carolina. She graduated from St. Angela Academy in Aiken, South Carolina, and then attended the University of South Carolina at Aiken, where she studied Art and Psychology, before marrying and becoming a homemaker. Bunnie and Rick were married in 1981. They welcomed daughter Hannah in 1985 and son Zack in 1988. They loved to travel together and to spend time with their children and grandson. They also enjoyed caring for and spending time with their dogs; Bunnie in particular was a lifelong dog lover, passionate about the care, welfare and rescue of dogs. She was predeceased by her father, Wyman Hendrix.

Bunnie is survived by her husband, Rick Lockhart; her two children and their spouses, Hannah Lockhart Jackson and husband Trey Jackson, and Zack Lockhart and wife Katie White Lockhart; her mother, Charlotte Hendrix; and her grandson, Bronson Lockhart.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Animal Rescue Foundation.
