Carol Blackwell Slack, 84 years old, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2021 after an extended illness. She was currently residing in Long Beach California.
As per her request, Carol’s body was donated to The University of California at San Diego Hospital where she had undergone experimental surgeries and treatments for back surgeries Upon completion of the research and cremation, a memorial service was held where her ashes were joined with her husbands and scattered in the Pacific Ocean.
Carol was raised in Eatonton where she graduated from Putnam County High School and later attended Atlanta Business School in Atlanta. She enjoyed a wonderful career as a collections manager at a credit union and then as manager of the front counter at Northwest Air Lines in Atlanta and Minneapolis. Carol was predeceased by her husband, Paul Slack of Long Beach California in 2019; her parents, Sam and Martha Blackwell; her sister, Ruth Hansen Blackwell; her niece and nephew, Cindy Clements and David Hansen and her beloved cat, Midnight.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Jo Blackwell Balas and brother, Sammy Blackwell (Roddie Anne), and several nieces and nephews.
Anyone wishing to remember her may make donations in her memory to the First Baptist Church in Eatonton where she was a member for many years.
