John Rabun Hood

Mr. John Rabun Hood, 81, of Eatonton, died Thursday, May 27, 2021 following an extended illness.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Eatonton Memorial Park, Godfrey Hwy.

Mr. Rabun Hood Sr. was born in Deepstep, GA, Washington County. He attended Sandersville High School prior to proudly serving his country in the US Army then the Air Force where his was an MP.

Rabun began his working career in the logging trade where he ran a successful business in the early 1970’s with his wife Delores. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eulie and Anna Flora Wood; a brother, Vaughn Hood of Deepstep and beloved wife, Delores Allen Hood.

Survivors include his and Delores’s sons, John Rabun Hood Jr. and his wife Michelle of Milledgeville, David Allen Hood, of Walsenburg, CO and former wife Connie Flanders Hood, and James Spencer Hood of Eatonton; grandchildren, Morgan (Hunter) Roberts, Sydney Felburg, Peyton Hood, Daniel Jones and three great grandchildren also his dog and special companion, Duke.

Vining Ivy Hill Chapel was charge of the arrangements.
