Nancy LaRue Jones was born on January 30, 1944 in Bleckley County, GA to the late Sidney Bullard and Nancy Clemons Bullard. Nancy attended Butler Baker High School, where she graduated in 1963. On August 21, 1966, she married the love of her life – the late Lonnie Jones, Jr. To this union, three children were born. Under Brother George Utuk’s leadership, Nancy became a faithful and active member of Abundant Life Fellowship Church. Throughout her life, Nancy worked at several manufacturing companies. She worked at Watertown in Madison, GA, Wellington in Madison, GA, and Bibb Manufacturing in Porterdale, GA. In the mid-seventies, Nancy, and her husband, Lonnie, and loving mother-in-law, Sarah Mae Jones, entered the restaurant industry by opening their restaurant named, the Desert House Restaurant. The restaurant eventually became a staple in the community, lasting over 30 years. Nancy was a loving woman who valued her family, and especially her grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes was baking cakes, cooking, and spending quality time with her family. She was a self-taught cake decorator who started her own catering service, which featured wedding cakes, soul food, and so much more. Nancy also loved to sing and could be spotted humming a tune while she cooked. She and her sisters sang together as a gospel group, known as the Bullard Sisters, for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Bullard, Robert Bullard, Leroy Bullard, Theo Bullard, and Sidney Bullard, Jr.; sisters, Georgia Bell Bullard Knox, Willie Mae Bullard Johnson, and Eleanor Bullard; mother, Nancy Clemons Bullard and father, Sidney Bullard.
