On Monday, May 3, 2021, The Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce held their Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony. During the Awards Ceremony, Putnam General Hospital was recognized as the 2021 Citizen of The Year. This award is recognition by our community for all of the hard work and dedication exhibited by the PGH hospital staff during the past year. While other businesses have reduced their working hours during the pandemic or modified work schedules so that employees could work from home, that has not been an option for PGH. All of the employees at PGH have continued to come to work every day, sometimes putting themselves at risk for possible exposure to the COVID-19 virus, so that they can be available to treat the residents of our community.
Mr. Alan Horton, PGH CEO shared “I looked up the meaning of Corporate Citizenship and the best definition that I saw is as follows; ‘Corporate Citizenship is the concept of organizations placing the interests of society on the same level as their bottom lines’. Under this definition, a good corporate citizen is a company that prioritizes making a positive social impact, acting ethically, and ensuring the long-term environmental sustainability of its operations.”
He went on to say, “Ensuring that Putnam General Hospital is a good Corporate Citizen is not just the responsibility of the CEO but requires the commitment of all employees to make a positive difference in the well-being of our community. So, while I accepted the Citizen of the Year award at the Chamber of Commerce event yesterday evening, those who really earned the award are our dedicated and loyal employees.”
