The Putnam County Charter School System has suspended in-person learning and is transitioning to digital learning for the remainder of the week due to concerns over increasing numbers of positive COVID-19 cases in the school district, increasing students and staff in precautionary quarantine due to contact tracing and elevated absences because of other sickness.

In a prepared statement sent to the Eatonton Messenger via text, PCCSS superintendent Eric Arena issued the following comments:

"Due to increasing numbers of positive COVID cases in the school district, the increasing numbers of students and staff quarantined due to contact tracing and the increasing numbers of absences due to other sickness, the Putnam County Charter School System is transitioning to at-home digital learning for the rest of the week for the district."

The statement was received after press time and The Eatonton Messenger will gather full details and have complete coverage in the coming days.
