The heavy rain and wind that tore through Putnam County last night knocked down several trees but there wasn't any structural damage to homes reported to the Putnam County Sheriff's Department or the Eatonton City Police.
Georgia Power reported about 1,000 homes in the Twin Bridges area were still without power at this hour after the strong winds brought some lines down.
"We got real lucky here in town," said Police Chief Howell Cardwell. "It could have been a lot worse."
Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said there were quite a few trees down in the southwest part of the county near where the power outages are.
"We've had some reports of limbs and trees falling on fences and some people have reported their belongings outside were moved around by the wind but thankfully, no one was reported injured or any significant damage to homes reported."
