The Dollar General Store in Eatonton is closed until safety issues are resolved.
Officials closed the Eatonton Dollar General store this morning until the store is cleaned up, Eatonton Police Chief Howell Cardwell said.
The aisles of the store were so crowded with boxes that it was impossible for people to walk around, he explained, and said his department had received several complaints about it.
Cardwell, Eatonton Fire Chief Eugene Hubert, and Code Enforcement Officer Terrence Nelson all went to the store, located at 205 E. Sumter Street this morning around 10:30 and talked to the manager and closed the store.
“The manager said they cannot find any help to work there,” Cardwell said. “So we wrote a citation and shut it down and gave them several days to clean it and get the aisles cleared and then we will go back and revisit the situation.”
