Putnam County and state authorities are searching for a Dublin man who went fishing yesterday morning and hasn't been heard from since then.
Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said Jeremy Bernard Williams, 45, went fishing on Lake Sinclair around 9 a.m. Sunday, but he never returned home. His wife reported him missing.
Williams' pickup truck and boat trailer were found near "Big Ed's" Lakeside Bait & Tackle and Chevron gas station on Milledgeville Road at the Baldwin-Putnam county line. Sills said his deputies and DNR law enforcement officers have been out on the lake searching all day Monday. They also pinged Williams' cell phone and went to the location where it registered. They did not find Williams or his boat.
Williams is described as a Black man, 5-ft., 10-in. tall, weighing 250 pounds.
Sills said that Monday afternoon, around 5 p.m., Williams' boat was found on Lake Sinclair. The lifejackets and his cell phone were in the boat, but he was not. DNR game wardens are using sonar to search for Williams.
Anyone who has seen Williams is asked to call the Putnam County Sheriff's Office at 706-485-8557.
