Proceeds from the Cuscowilla Fore Good Un-Classic Golf Tournament on April 19 raised $134,500 to support initial construction for Habitat for Humanity of Putnam’s (HFHP) 30-acre affordable housing community.
“The success of the Fore Good Un-Classic is a reflection of what makes this community so special,” Tournament Steering Committee member Beth Blaisdell said. “Cuscowilla members rallied in a big way to support local families, showing the incredible impact we can have when we come together.”
One hundred percent of the funds raised will remain local, directly supporting Habitat’s work in Putnam County. Funds from the Fore Good Un-Classic will be applied to key early investments in Carter Crossing, including paying off the remaining land note, reducing upfront development costs, and accelerating the timeline for future home construction.
“This is a transformational moment for our organization,” HFHP Executive Director Murali Thirumal said. “Paying off the Carter Crossing property removes a major barrier and allows us to move forward with building homes faster and serving more families across Putnam County.”
Carter Crossing will be built on land near the Twin Bridges area of Putnam County’s Lake Sinclair. It is Habitat Putnam’s most ambitious project to date, a thoughtfully planned, multi-phase, affordable housing neighborhood about 15 minutes from downtown Eatonton.
Named in honor of President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter, whose legacy of service helped shape Habitat’s mission worldwide, the HFHP development will create lasting opportunities for hardworking local families to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through homeownership.
With the land now fully paid for, HFHP is positioned to bring homes out of the ground sooner and to expand the number of families served in the years ahead.
Habitat for Humanity of Putnam also extended sincere gratitude to its presenting sponsors, tournament players, volunteers, and the Cuscowilla community for making the event a resounding success. All funds raised will remain in Putnam County, directly supporting local families on their path to homeownership.
As momentum continues to build, HFHP invites the community to stay engaged through upcoming volunteer opportunities, home dedications, and events supporting the Carter Crossing development.
