Men cash fake checks worth thousands

Three people who were cashing fictitious checks around town ended up in jail after being caught by Eatonton Police Department.

Kadrian Deon Humphries, of Brookwood Drive, Eatonton, was charged with two counts of executing, negotiating fictitious check; Rodney O’Neil Little, of Linchburg Road, Eatonton, was charged with four counts, and Caleb Julion Jackson, of Charleston Lane, Covington, was arrested on six counts of the same charge, according to jail reports.

Jackson had obtained the checks, which were printed with fake account numbers and names of businesses and banks out of Texas, and made them out to Humphries and Little, according to Police Chief Howell Cardwell. Jackson drove Humphries and Little around Eatonton and the pair cashed the checks at a bank and a gas station, all on Monday, July 18. The six checks were for amounts ranging from $500 to $1,700 each, and the three would split the money, Cardwell said.

Cardwell said he and Sgt. Howard Clemons investigated the case and made the arrests within a few hours of being notified by the bank. A third person is being sought in connection with providing the checks, he said.

“And the investigation is ongoing because I’m sure there are more checks out there that we don’t know about yet,” he added.
