City council approves garbage pickup hike

The Eatonton City Council Monday night approved a $4 increase in the monthly garbage pickup fee. The residential rate will go from $11 per container to $15. Commercial rates will rise from $12 to $16.

An Eatonton woman died while driving her vehicle Monday evening, authorities say. No one else was injured. Martha Ellis, 81, of Flat Rock Road, Putnam County, was traveling north on Flat Rock Road around 6 p.m. Monday, May 17.
