Local author Mike Brown, also known as T. M. Brown, was recently awarded certificates for the best historical fiction novel, best fiction cover, and Spotlight on Georgia Fiction by the Georgia Independent Author Association for his novel The Last Laird of Sapelo.

Putnam County Grand Jury returns indictments

A Putnam County Grand Jury returned indictments on 21 people on June 16. An indictment does not mean the person is guilty. It means that the jurors, after reviewing the evidence presented by the prosecutor, believed there was sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial.

Beyond the Bell: Leaders convene to address community opioid issues

Several community leaders and officials turned out on June 17 at the Putnam County Courthouse in Eatonton to discuss and address the county’s serious opioid use and addiction issues, and what resources are available to combat seemingly endless problems related to opioid abuse.
