GWM welcomes new junior board

The Georgia Writers Museum (GWM) welcomed its new 2023-24 Junior Board last Friday, made up of Rebekah Esau’s Service Leadership class at Putnam County High School. The GWM’s third junior board will create a class project involving the museum during the school year.

‘Miracle’ survival of crash with log truck

An Alabama woman who crashed into a log truck in Eatonton on Monday is miraculously back home, authorities say.
“She walked in here (Eatonton Police Department) today to pick up her (belongings) that were in her car, and I couldn’t believe it,” Chief Howell Cardwell said Tuesday.

District Attorney becomes Putnam’s solicitor

Putnam County is now saving money in its court system, specifically in the state court, according to authorities.
Until now, Putnam County State Court cases were prosecuted by an elected solicitor general. But as of January, that duty has been taken by the district attorney’s office.

Eatonton man dies in housefire

An Eatonton man is believed to have been killed in a housefire, authorities say.
Eatonton Police Department received a call around 10:11 p.m. Friday that a house at 247 Jenkins Court was on fire, according to Eatonton Police Chief Howell Cardwell.
