In this day and age of AI and negativity hitting all of us practically non-stop, there remains a place of tranquility and history combined to take us all back to a more peaceful time.
Just off Dennis Station Road, Roger Pierce and his friends have built an entire early-1900s village with more than 20 buildings and sites once common here in Putnam County. Each was built by creative hands, using raw materials, vintage furnishings, and in many cases, even time-honored techniques.
These buildings from the past include a fully stocked general store, a church, schoolhouse, cabins, a functioning blacksmith shop, and a water-powered mill set among the outhouse, sorghum syrup mill, corn crib, sawmill, smokehouse, and other structures.
Stepback (176A Dennis Station Rd., Eatonton) will be open 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 31, when Pierce, with his family and friends, encourage everyone to leave modern issues behind and step back to a simpler time.
Free parking, free admission, and refreshments are available on site, but please note, no pets are allowed and children must be attended at all times.
