Dear editor,
Thanks to The Eatonton Messenger for its recent inclusion of local Back-to-School events.
Reach to Teach at Pastor Kilgore’s church (New Life Outreach Christian Center) was very organized and showed appreciation for the volunteers who distributed the supplies. Prizes were given to hard-working students. The catered lunch was greatly appreciated, too.
The event organized by Councilwoman Janie Reid at Jimmy Davis Park the following week also saw a happy crowd of children enjoying the water slide. At the same time, adults collected their supplies, and food was given out. It was lovely to see the park being used the way it should be.
Children were enjoying the new play area (it was too hot for basketball!), and there was one little girl who just loved being pushed on the latest swings in place, too. And let’s not forget to say a huge thank you to the army of workers behind the scenes. Without Kilee Reid, Tweedie Parham, Annie Bishop, and many others, the event would not have run so smoothly. They are all Eatonton residents who want to see Eatonton improve steadily and are tomorrow’s leaders.
Coming soon will be the Boy Scouts of America Golden Eagle Dinner and Fundraiser at Barrel 118 on August 28th.
I encourage everyone to get their tickets by contacting Garrett Williams at garrett.williams@scouting.org.
