The Gatewood softball team wrapped up its 2025 season with a banquet at the school on Dec. 8, celebrating a year of hard work and grit that delivered a 14-10 overall record.
The Lady Gators made it to the Class 2A postseason, finishing their season in the Elite Eight in Columbus.
The team also handed out postseason player awards at the banquet, with Riley Roberts named the Lady Gators' Most Valuable Player. Roberts also was named to the All-Region and All-State teams, as were fellow seniors Natalie Sills and Ellie McMillian.
McMillian was named the team’s Golden Glove winner and later signed with GMC Junior College to continue her softball journey at the next level upon graduating next year.
Also receiving individual postseason recognition was Sills with the team’s Heart and Hustle Award, freshman Lily Arthur took the Slugger Award, Cora Tkacik and Lily Huskins each received a Captain’s Award, and freshman Alexis Thrift was named Most Improved Player.
