HFHP receives $10K grant from Tri-County EMC

Habitat for Humanity of Putnam (HFHP) was awarded a $10,000 Operation Roundup grant from Tri-County EMC last month to support the construction of HFHP home No. 29.

The funding will be used to purchase and install electrical wiring and fixtures for the home, helping another local family move closer to safe, affordable homeownership in Putnam County.

This is not the first time Tri-County EMC has supported Habitat for Humanity of Putnam, and their continued partnership is making a meaningful difference for local families.

“We are incredibly grateful to Tri-County EMC and their members for this generous support,” Habitat for Humanity of Putnam Executive Director Murali Thirumal said. “Through Operation Roundup, small contributions from members add up to create a lasting impact. Their ongoing investment in our work is helping us build more than homes; it’s helping build stability and opportunity for families right here in our community.”

Operation Roundup is a community-focused program that allows Tri-County EMC members to round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar, with the extra funds supporting local nonprofit organizations and community initiatives.

HFHP partners with local families to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. Habitat homeowners invest hundreds of hours of sweat equity and pay an affordable mortgage.

“Every dollar raised and invested stays right here in Putnam County,” Thirumal added. “We are proud to partner with organizations like Tri-County EMC, which share our commitment to strengthening our community.”

Construction on Habitat Home No. 29 is underway and on track for completion within two to three months, with a home dedication ceremony expected shortly thereafter.
