This year marks the 23rd annual Pets with Santa, with all proceeds going to the Lake Oconee Humane Society (LOHS).
Santa Don greeted all the animals and their owners as they arrived and despite the large number of dogs, we did have four 6-week old kittens who stole everyone’s hearts before the first dog arrived.
This event is strictly volunteer-run, with all money raised going to the LOHS. This year, the event raised $1,240, reflecting the generosity of Lake Country.
The event began in 2003, and special thanks goes to Harbor Club for donating the use of its event building. Santa Don, volunteers Vicki Kindl, Janet Reilly, Anne Marino, Rita Jones, Julie Olney, and Jeannie Lehman from the LOHS also deserve special recognition.
Pet photographer Leigh Lofgren said she looks forward to seeing everyone back next year and hopefully more pet owners, as all are welcome and every animal in shelters needs support and good, safe and loving homes.
