Dear editor:

My week was very, very busy. I remember that I am not nosy. I have graduated, and now I am concerned. The weather is probably confusing to some visitors but not for Georgians. We have several seasons in one week, but I love Georgia.

Remember, as I wander around to check out the different shops opening up, please remember to do so also. I meet visitors from Maine, Alaska, Florida and several countries in our beautiful state of Georgia, and I reminded them to check also.

Oh gosh, I forgot to mention that I had a huge cookout Sunday afternoon. All six of my children were here and a large number of grandchildren and neighbors. I will remind you of the next one in October, and we will make it much larger.

A couple of dates to remember: May 8 (Mother’s Day) I will be speaking at St. John AME Church at 11 a.m. My subject will be: traveling down memory lane. We need to remember the past and learn from it. I do.

May 21, another important date, Mothers Against Crime will celebrate 30 years. Can you imagine it has been that long? The program will include dinner, guest speakers and a huge surprise for the members. This event will start at 7 p.m. at The Plaza. Tickets will be on sale starting April 20 for $10.

Seniors, at Putnam County High School and Gatewood School, please remember the deadline for Mothers Against Crime Scholarship is April 21. Applications are available at your counselor’s office. Winners will be selected on April 27. Presentations will be made at your school’s Honors Night.

Thought for the day: The real issue in life is not how many blessings we have but what we do with our blessings. Continue to watch for the light. It seems brighter.

God bless – Georgia Benjamin-Smith
