Coleman suspends candidacy for BOC chairman
Dear Editor,
Due to personal and family health reasons, I am announcing I will not be actively continuing my candidacy for the Chairmanship of the Putnam County Board of Commissioners.
Unfortunately, as much as I love my county and my fellow citizens, I have a much deeper love and obligation to my wife and family. As her illnesses continue to progress, I must now focus all my attention and resources on her wellbeing and comfort.
I do this with considerable regret, because I love my County, my neighbors and my fellow citizens and I really believe that with your support, we were in a position to “Build a Better Future” for Putnam County. The resounding theme that I have heard and seen repeatedly over the past few years is that we have got to displace Bill Sharp.
It is too late for my name to be withdrawn from the ballot, however, I offer my full support to Steve Hersey. Bill Sharp does not have the ethical foundation to lead our county. Just look at his record. His four years as a commissioner is a litany of self-interest, self-service, deceit and lack of collective respect for our citizens and the Commission. We cannot afford another four years of Bill Sharp.
I want to thank my fellow citizens for their support, their time, and their contributions toward my campaign. I strongly encourage you to vote for Steve Hersey and to let your voices be heard. My interactions with Steve over the past couple months imply that he does have the integrity, the ethics, and the experience to lead our county.
Sincerely, Lee Coleman
Lee Coleman
