Where was Commissioner Sharp?

Dear Editor,

Last Thursday, Putnam County and Anchors Marina faced off in the court ordered mediation over the disputed rezoning conditions that the county placed on the marina during the 2019 rezoning process. Notably absent at the mediation was our District 3 Commissioner Bill Sharp. Mr. Sharp evidently decided that instead of being there to represent our county and the citizens of District 3, he would instead attend a training seminar in Savannah, GA. Another commissioner from outside District 3 had to be called in to take his place.

Mr. Sharp, this marina and the disputed conditions has arguably been one of the most controversial and emotional issues in our District over the last ten years. That I know of, there’s been threats and accusations, 3 lawsuits filed, claims of disappearing rezoning signs and digital photo’s being illegally erased, at least 8 lawyers involved, and 10’s of thousands of our tax dollars spent on legal fees...and you couldn’t even be bothered to show up to represent the county or the citizens of your district...So that you could attend a TRAINING SEMINAR! At best, I find this to be extremely poor judgement on your part; at worst, this is an unconscionable betrayal of the public trust.
