Letters to the Editor: Don’t forget to vote; it is your duty

Dear editor: It has been a very up and down lately, but the light at the end of the tunnel is still there. A couple of weeks ago, Mothers Against Crime held another huge yard sale—everything was free—and the atmosphere with the people was absolutely great. Laughter and small talk set the stage for the day.

Then, a dark cloud drifted over when I was made aware my husband had been involved in an auto accident. Thankfully after a time in the ER, X-rays, lab work, you name it, he is much better. Still very sore, though, and very, very upset over the damage to his 32-year-old truck!

Then at the end of the week we celebrated his 82nd birthday with a huge cookout. Friends, family and well-wishers were there. Thanks to everyone for their prayers.

On Friday and Saturday of last week I put my promoter’s hat on and went to work. I spent both days on my imaginary stage promoting our beautiful city and county! I drove down Jefferson Avenue in the afternoon and marveled over the amount of cars and foot traffic there. We have great shops and restaurants in Eatonton, so take time and visit them!

We also have dozens of events to attend coming up. For instance, don’t forget November 5th for the free gospel concert at the Putnam Middle School, November 19th for Harvest Time at Rock Eagle Conference Center, and don’t forget to attend church!

We are all going to ball, games, shopping, concerts etc., but attendance in church is small.

Also don’t forget to wave or nod at our young people who are our future leaders and to our senior citizens, too. Show them all that you care! I talked with Mrs.

Lugenia Snow last week, who is 96 years young and very informative. I absolutely love talking to people.

Can you tell?

Oh, and don’t forget to vote. It is your duty.

Thought for today: Truth on the shelf of our lives is merely ornamental, but truth that’s applied to our lives is powerful enough to transform us and influence those around us.

God Bless, Georgia Benjamin-Smith
