Dear Editor: I am writing this letter on a very special day, Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday. He had a powerful dream, a dream that involves each and every one of us.
For a while, that dream was shattered into pieces, but now we are uniting and light is forming again into that beautiful dream. I can definitely see light at the end of the tunnel!
It is getting brighter every day. I can see it, I can feel it, and I definitely want to be a part of it.
Reflections of the previous week: Our first Eatonton Kiwanis meeting was held at Putnam County High School with President Russell Thomas presiding. It was a great program that everyone enjoyed. The food was super, provided by the culinary class, and we are all very proud of them.
Family and Friends Day was held at St. John AME Church on Sunday and it was a huge success, and very well attended. Reverend Kareem Farley of Ebeneezer Baptist Church was the speaker and his message was absolutely great. Several members of various churches attended and everyone greatly enjoyed themselves.
I remember the words of my own pastor, Rev. Wayne Griffin Sr., who said, “You can always be a retcher if not a preacher.” I must confess I have not felt very well this past week, but I am starting to feel much better.
Thought for today: We all mold one another’s dreams. We all hold each other’s fragile hopes in our hands. We all touch each other’s hearts.
