Letters to the Editor: Trump should admit he needs an ‘Aaron’

Dear Editor,

In my opinion, Donald Trump may well be the only one who can be so strategic as to end the war in Ukraine, be the one to get our economy functioning again and de-politicize the FBI and other government agencies that are supposed to be non-partisan. He could, so to speak, get us out of Egypt.

But his pomposity and arrogance, unfortunately, overshadow his message, which, as he stumps in Iowa, makes a lot of sense. It’s to the point. He knows what is going on and he’s seen firsthand what works and what doesn’t. He is trying to convince people he can lead the country to higher values and a higher vision.

However, where he is no Moses getting us out of Egypt, lies in how he won’t (or can’t) admit, as Moses recognized, that he has a presentation problem. Moses did and gave his brother, Aaron, that responsibility. If Trump could only find his inner Aaron or find an Aaron (I’d suggest Tim Scott), maybe people could hear some of his sanity.

But attacking people, as he does, such as calling his former press secretary “Milktoast,” or attacking Ron De Santis, who has been a great governor, as “DeSanctimonious,” is not a leadership quality. It is entertainment, which is Trump’s shtick, but he is no longer on “The Apprentice.”

I know Donald Trump probably won’t be reading my letter to the editor, but in case you are, former President Trump, you’d attract a lot more honey (a larger swath of your constituents), with a more respectful, measured manner. I know your swagger worked on TV and it worked in 2016, but it’s a different world now, and all of us have to respect it. I know the headlines like to go for the jugular, but that will only stop if our leaders stop modeling it for them.
