The 2023 Scarecrow Contest & Showcase, presented by Smith Communications, Inc., and hosted by Eatonton Main Street will take place during the month of October in downtown Eatonton.
Registration is now open for the 2023 Scarecrow Contest and participants must register and pay the $25 entry fee prior to the Sept. 23 registration deadline to be part of the contest.
Registration information can be downloaded online from downtowneatonton.com or may be picked up at the Eatonton Main Street Office.
This annual Eatonton tradition is always fun for participants and guests alike, with this year’s contest and showcase including two categories of scarecrows: entries from businesses and entries from non-businesses (families, civic groups, schools, etc.).
The Scarecrow Contest & Showcase is open to anyone, regardless of residency, and offers a great way to promote local businesses and have fun at the same time.
“Winners of the Scarecrow Contest will be voted on by the public,” Eatonton Main Street Manager Lauren Singleton explained. “We will have a QR code for each entry that guests can scan with their phones to vote for their favorite scarecrow throughout the month of October.
We will also have paper ballots available at City Hall for those who prefer to cast their votes that way.”
The entry fee is $25 per entry, regardless of category, and all entry fees will go toward cash prizes for first-, second-, and third-place winners in the non-business category, while first-, second-and-third-place winners in the business category will receive a certificate for free advertising in Smith Communications publications, such as The Eatonton Messenger, Lake Oconee News, and The Baldwin Bulletin.
Currently, there is approximately $2,500 in cash and prizes available for winning entries, but as more entries are registered, the cash awards will increase for non-business winners.
Mail the registration form with payment to Eatonton Main Street, P.O. Box 4384, Eatonton, GA 31024, or drop off the registration form and payment at the Eatonton Main Street office, located inside City Hall, 201 N. Jefferson Ave., Eatonton.
Accepted forms of payment include cash or checks made payable to Eatonton Main Street. No credit cards, please.
