Letter to the Editor: Caring on display in many ways

Dear Editor,

Before I start to voice my opinion or tackle a few roadblocks, let’s relax for a few moments and reflect on the happenings all around us. The weather really reminds everyone of me – unpredictable – warm, cool, warm, cool, but I love it. Also, bereaved families and sick shut-ins are everywhere. Let us keep the entire world in prayer. It is definitely needed.

Alright, I want to reflect on the tent revival earlier. It was so inspirational. I call it so deep-rooted it touched everyone. I hope we can have more of them. I believe Reverend Michael Brown and Reverend Matt Brown will see it happening over and over again. Thanks to all the ministers and everyone involved. You did a magnificent job.

I missed the Matt Rogers concert. Why? We were celebrating my husband Rufus Smith Jr.’s 83rd birthday and it was great with 62 guests. Mr. Kent Lawrence, your Brunswick stew was a blast.

I don’t know who the lady was that fell at the concert, but apparently, she was named Georgia, too, because I received a large number of phone calls. So, thank you everyone for checking up on me, and I dearly hope the other Georgia is doing well. This is the remarkable way about Eatonton-Putnam County. We care.

Mothers Against Crime, Putnam County Domestic Violence Task Force, and Circle of Love held a candlelight ceremony at Putnam County Middle School before the ball game. The ceremony was held at Gatewood the Friday before. Thank you to all the participants at both schools. And again, thank you, firefighters, EMTs, law enforcement, city and county workers. You really are doing a great job. Keep it up and you’ll be responsible for buying me a new promotions hat because this one is in shreds.

Thought for today: There will be many, many more junctures in the course of my day; what I truly believe will be revealed in how I navigate each one.

God bless, Georgia Benjamin-Smith
