Letter to the Editor: Judge Trump on ‘content of his character’

Dear Editor,

The American Black community controls the destiny of Georgia … and possibly our country. Take heed, my friends.

Martin Luther King said in 1963, “I have a dream where my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

We must do the same when choosing the leader of the free world. It cannot be a vote on color. We must all ask ourselves: If we were to invest all of our savings into a company, who would we want to run that company? Someone with proven results, someone who would protect it and build a profit for all.

Are we worse off than we were four years ago? Compare our 2017 and 2018 tax returns and see what President Trump did with his tax cuts. 90% of middle-class Americans received an increase in take-home pay.

Should we have built the wall? It looks like it. Kamala Harris says she wants to do so now after viciously putting the concept down as “narcissism.” Now, she wants to embrace the same “narcissism.” Or is she, as Bernie Sanders alludes, being political?

Consumer confidence was at an all-time high, and poverty was at a record low. We were energy-independent—policy over personality.

Yes, Trump is someone who many people seem to find easy to dislike vehemently. Winston Churchill was not only a drunk but was despised by most of Britain, and there is no question that he was the man for the hour.

JFK said in his 1961 inauguration speech: “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.”

We can research the two candidates, not by bipartisan news vehicles that tear down one, build up the other, and manipulate quotes and clips. We can compare policies and their long-term delivery.

For instance, it sounds nice to give tax cuts to start-ups (after they make it) or homes to the poor, but it also means trillions more dollars of debt, which will only raise inflation. Already at a high, it will skyrocket. Let’s all look closely.
