Gatewood swimmer a finalist at USA Swimming Divisional

Gatewood’s Olivia Chomiak is making waves in the competitive swimming scene, as she continued her success last weekend with another strong performance at the USA Swimming Northeast Divisional.

Chomiak advanced to both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke finals in Athens, demonstrating her speed and endurance. She also qualified as an alternate for the 100-yard breaststroke, further showcasing her versatility across multiple strokes.

Her latest success follows an impressive showing at the GIAA State Meet on Feb. 1 at Georgia Tech, where Chomiak placed fourth in the 100-yard individual medley and 50-yard freestyle. She also finished fifth in the 100-yard freestyle event against middle-school girls from across Georgia.

Chomiak trains with the MOCO Swim program, an up-and-coming elite training group based at the Madison Aquatics Center. Under the guidance of top coaches led by Jamey Myers, she continues to push limits and refine her technique, proving that hard work and dedication pay off in and out of the water.

A straight-A student at Gatewood, Chomiak balances a rigorous academic schedule with an intense training regimen, demonstrating true student-athlete excellence.
