I have been wandering, wandering for weeks. I hope I can remember to tell you about everything.
First, I want to brag a little bit. No, I’m going to brag a lot.
Eatonton and Putnam County are well known, and I am so proud of both. We have so many well-organized, well-promoted, and well-attended events that I can barely keep up with them all.
The Mistletoe Market this past weekend was great fun and very well attended. And remember, I am slightly nosy. In other words, I look at car tags and talk to people about why they’re here and what their names are.
Oh, and another positive. We have more and more restaurants, and they were all well attended, and it looked like the shops around town were doing well, too.
And there are always more events coming up. November 16th at 2 p.m. is the Women’s Day Program at St. John AME Church, where Reverend Simone Jones of Texas Chapel AME will be the guest speaker.
And everyone is invited on December 6th when Mothers Against Crime will celebrate with all the children. The event will be our annual Christmas party at the Putnam County Recreation Department from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., featuring games, food, inspirational speakers, and a gift for every child. And, oops, I almost forgot about our free yard sale.
And who knows? If he is in the vicinity, Santa Claus might even sneak in for a moment or two.
Veterans Day was on November 11th. I hope you took a moment to include a big thank you and a prayer for all the veterans.
Veterans Day is special to me because I am the mother of three veterans, and my great-granddaughter is leaving for the Air Force. I look at my flag waving with the breeze, and I stand proud to be an American.
I must also tell you about one more event on November 22nd from 6 to 8 p.m., and everyone is invited to Eatonton First Methodist Church. The Great Hall will feature Gospel on the Avenue and the EFMC Trio, and the event is free. Love offerings are optional.
My thought for today is that young people around us might not understand our faith, but if we live it out in a way that makes it attractive, they will likely want to know what makes us so cool.
