Bill Sharp is not about serving the public

Dear editor:

Titus 1:16 “They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works.”

Bill Sharp was asked repeatedly to set up a meeting with the new owners of the marina property on Hwy 44. He claimed he would but didn’t know who the new owners were. Open records showed that was not true and that Mr. Sharp had been in contact with them for months. Later, the Anchors Marina owner said, “they were in communication with Commissioner Sharp and told him that they were more than willing to have a meeting with the community”. Compromise and civil discussion should always be exhausted prior to legal action. If Sharp had been truthful and done his job, all parties involved could have avoided thousands of dollars in legal fees. Including the county.

During his campaign for Chairman of BOC, Sharp has repeatedly used county personnel and contractors to do research or answer questions on his behalf. It is a clear violation of Ga code of ethics to use taxpayer resources for personal gain.

Here is the biggie! Sharp as chairman of EPSWA facilitated a water line to 11 vacant lots for a cost of $250,000. Now the EPSWA Board wants to raise rates to pay for it. If you get water through EPSWA, get ready to pay more. You are going to help the developer of 11 lots and support Mr. Sharp’s hidden agendas.

GA Power held a meeting about the Hydrilla problem on Lake Sinclair. Sharp did not bother to attend. Lucky for you Steve Hersey did. Sharp has proven time and time again he doesn’t care about residents unless you are a commercial developer of course.

If Bill Sharp cannot represent all the residents of the third district, can he be trusted to represent the entire County?

Bill Sharp’s vision for Lake Oconee looks like Memorial Drive in Stone Mountain. The citizens have come to Lake Country to escape the bigger cities. Say “NO” to unplanned, indiscriminate commercial growth, and ugly metal buildings in our Lake Country and say “NO” to Bill Sharp. We have had enough! Elect the only obvious choice Steve Hersey and save Putnam County from Bill Sharp.
