Mr Lee’s deliberately inflammatory rhetoric does Eatonton no favors but makes its residents look like they are happy to live back in the 50’s. Are you all cringing fearfully in the face of “selfishly ambitious Blacks”?
Is it only permissible for Whites to be “selfishly ambitious”? I would think that, for a community desperately needing economic growth, any ambition to further the prospects of this town, from whatever quarter, would be welcome.
Federal data shows the rate of fatal police shootings, per million, in the US from 2015 to date, by ethnicity as follows:
Black - 38; Hispanic - 28; White - 15; Other - 5 “Disproportionate”?
When statistics show Blacks are more than twice as likely to be fatally killed by police than their White counterparts, do you really see an acknowledgement of BLM as a “plague”? The recent spike in crime levels has very little to do with BLM. The outrage against police brutality is because it is committed by the people who are supposed to keep us safe.
Without law enforcement there would be anarchy. BUT law enforcement must EARN our trust and respect. Other than the difference in our pigmentation, we are all the same - we want a clean, healthy, safe environment for our families. We want to put food on our tables, to be happy in our work and, YES, to be “selfishly” ambitious to achieve our goals. The charge of racism can only be leveled at those who think the color of their skin puts them above others. But every Sunday, aren’t your pastors preaching that we are all the same in God’s eyes? Is it all just talk? It is not a crime to be “selfish” or ambitious. Unfortunately for Mr Lee it is also not a crime to be Black.
