Imagination is more important than knowledge

Dear editor:

Einstein said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”

In my 10 years as a Briar Patch resident, I’ve been extremely impressed with how Putnam County Charter Schools stimulate their students’ imagination. I was especially awed by the light show at The Plaza Arts Center last week that kicked up their imagination to a higher dimension. Performers from Light Wire Theater, funded by a grant from Vibrant Communications, treated them to an updated high-tech version of the Hare and the Tortoise. The theater was entirely dark with the only light emitting from the actors’ costumes. At the end of the show, they showed the kids the crafty ways they constructed their costumes with recycled materials and how they controlled their lights with battery packs. With that little bit of knowledge, you could see those kids’ eyes light up with sparks of imagination, ready to “encircle the world” with creations of their own.
