Dear editor: I commend The Eatonton Messenger for publishing articles on the arts like Maureen Brower’s “The benefits of performing arts programs in our schools,” and Charlotte Mosteller’s “How singing can be beneficial and help you prosper with a group.”
When I moved to the Briar Patch in 2012 and became a member of the Plaza Arts Center, their slogan was “A Bridge to the Arts.” A couple of us sat around pondering that. The slogan implied that people had to cross some bridge in order to experience or even observe the arts.
After some brainstorming, we came up with “Connecting the Community through the Arts.” In their articles, Ms. Brower and Ms. Mosteller both make it very clear that the arts are all around us. Singing, dancing, performing, painting, sculpting, writing and other artistic endeavors are all intertwined right here within our community, ready for us to connect with them.
I thank The Messenger for helping inform Briar Patch residents about the arts that abound here and helping us all connect.
