Dear Editor,
This letter is in response to Commissioner Steve Hersey’s letter ( The Eatonton Messenger, April 11, 2024).
I agree that the fire at Precision Outdoors is a public nuisance, according to my son who works in the area. This fire has burned for over a month and everyone in the area has been exposed to its heavy smoke. It’s not a small fire. It’s humongous. The fire chief has stated that the fire cannot be put out and may burn for months.
It also appears that more debris is being added to the mountainous pile. Why won’t Chairman Sharp and Commissioner Brown do something to stop Precision Outdoors from endangering the health of everyone in the area? Would they want to breathe heavy smoke every day for months on end?
In cases like this, the chairman and the commissioners should work together to help the people of Putnam County.
Those people who sent text messages, and emails and made numerous calls are waiting for your help.
Please, that should be your only concern.
