Dear Editor,
The temperature is heating up and my energy is going down. It probably would help if I was more organized. Did you know I can’t finish cleaning a room at home before I switch to doing something else? Shame on me. Shame, shame, shame.
On Friday last week at the Uncle Remus Museum, several events unfolded before my eyes. First, a couple from Colorado came in that I met several years ago.
Came to visit me along with out-of-state family. The Colorado couple is the one that I really put on my promotion hat for, to persuade them to move here.
They did and I am so happy. My total now is three families that moved to our beautiful Eatonton Putnam County. I’m sure now that I need a new hat. (Hint, hint.)
Also on Friday last week, the museum was honored with a tour group of 42. The group consisted of quite a few from the Augusta area.
I climbed aboard that bus and told them some history and a couple of Uncle Remus stories. I was in seventh heaven. The group was fascinated with the museum, too.
I would also like to take a moment and thank everyone for their attendance at Mothers Against Crimes’ annual Gospel Concert. It was a great success.
We would like to thank the PCMS cheerleaders, the mothers, and Ms. Renee, you are also great. Thank you to Blackwell Furniture for a beautiful African vase for a door prize. Also to our sponsors for the event, Mr.
Robert Alliston and Ms. Carol Brewer. Thank you to the singers, the Gospelettes, Minister Sidney Reed, Calvary Gospel Show, and everyone else involved.
Thank you all for helping us to make a dream real.
And don’t forget the ice cream social at the Old School History Museum on August 12th from 1 to 4 p.m. I will be there to tell some stories. See you there!
Thought for today: The youth around us might not understand our faith, but if we live it out in such a way that makes it attractive, at some point they will likely want to know what makes us so cool.
