Letter to the Editor: Postal postponements persist

Dear Editor,

Millions of Americans have experienced the impact of the directives implemented by Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, appointed by the 45th president (Donald Trump). Our experience was no exception.

Our package was mailed from California on March 9 and finally arrived in Putnam County on May 25 – after spending 71 days at the Palmetto Distribution Center – the supposed solution to our postal issues.

Unfortunately, the USPS provided no official communication, leaving frontline personnel to handle frustrated customers with little leadership and information.

Despite these challenges, the local staff, with the exception of the postmaster, made the best of a difficult situation. The supervisor and Veronica informed me of what they knew and even managed to find another lost package I was searching for.

Senators Ossoff and Warnock secured commitments, while Congressman Mike Collins boasted about federal funds coming to GA-10 – despite voting against the legislation that provided them. Priorities!

Now that this issue has been addressed, when can we expect to see Putnam Pete’s Dropbox installed in front of the (Eatonton-Putnam County) post office?

Don Sadler, Putnam County
