The Putnam County Jimmy Davis Park Advisory Committee held another meeting last Wednesday. The notice on Facebook was posted approximately 32 hours before the meeting.
I have found several legal interpretations from other states showing that Facebook does not meet the public notice requirement, so I am awaiting an opinion from the Georgia Attorney General on this matter.
We still have not resolved the issue of whether an agenda or minutes will be provided since conflicting comments were made at the first meeting.
While I have not yet received an official opinion, my reading of the public notice requirement suggests that 24 hours is the minimum notice required by law. It’s interesting that the county manager and county commission are satisfied with providing the minimum requirement of public notice on a project that will cost their taxpayers a great deal.

Unfortunately, the presentation was canceled as the congressperson was campaigning in Virginia.
On another issue, the county does not have a policy to lower the American flag during national holidays. They depend on the governor, who was at the border for a photo op and, despite having a large staff, did not send out the order when three Georgia National Guardsmen were killed in Israel.
