Letter to the Editor: Quarry owner thanks local residents

Dear Editor,

I want to extend my sincere thanks once again to the residents of Putnam County who joined us at our second community open house (Feb. 26 at The Plaza) for the Putnam County Stone quarry project.

Your active participation reflects a strong sense of community, and we deeply appreciate the time you invested in learning about the project, posing insightful questions, and having meaningful conversations.

Through these discussions, we’ve gained a deeper understanding of what matters most to our neighbors. While many of you highlighted the exciting potential for new jobs that will support local families and bolster our workforce, we also heard genuine concerns about how the quarry will operate and the impacts on the community.

We remain committed to transparency now and throughout the operation of the quarry, and we are always willing to share information to answer your questions.

As a result of the open houses and individual community meetings, we’re continuing to refine our plans to better align with community needs, incorporating feedback to ensure responsible operations that prioritize environmental protection and quality of life.

At Putnam County Stone, we’re excited to move forward with this long-term investment. This project represents our dedication to being a reliable partner, creating economic opportunities while maintaining the highest standards of stewardship and community collaboration.

We remain grateful for the ongoing dialogue and look forward to continued engagement as we build Putnam County’s future together.

Sincerely, John Cross Owner, Putnam County Stone, LLC
