Dear Editor,
We lost a great American hero earlier this month in Charles Person, one of the original Freedom Riders, back in 1961. He was one of the original 13 who came south to show the country and the world the racism in the South.
Let’s honor him by passing HR 1247, celebrating the Freedom Riders collectively with the Congressional Gold Medal of Freedom.
Let’s make this the second bill to come across the president’s desk behind the Laken Riley Act.
