Dear Editor,
This is a follow-up to my recent letter concerning Donald Trump. Mr. Trump is now, of course, asking the Supreme Court to grant him total immunity if he is reelected to the presidency.
First of all, no individual is above the law. If you break the law, you must face the consequences. Not even the president of the United States is above the law. If you break the law, you will be prosecuted.
Mr. Trump has broken many laws.
Secondly, why does Mr. Trump want immunity if he is not planning to do anything illegal? Think about it. If he should be granted immunity by the Supreme Court and is reelected, what would our executive branch of government be like? Chaos, division, and turmoil would prevail, and perhaps, near-dictatorial rule by Mr. Trump. He would never fear prosecution for his actions.
Is this what we want for our country? Do we want a president who abides by the laws of our land, or do we want a liar, a con man, and a criminal as our president?
Think about it before you vote. Our country’s future may depend on it.
