Letter to the Editor: The well went dry – and God sent an angel

Dear Editor,

As a Christian, I’ve come to accept that angels(messengers) come in many forms. A couple of weeks ago, a dedicated member and secretary of the Greater Jefferson Missionary Baptist Church – Gloria Hurt – reached out to other family members to locate a repair person for the well pump.

The system on site surely is old and with limited services due to Covid and aging members, it’s been tough to maintain this dwelling place. And yet, Ms. Hurt has persevered and kept programs going and the doors open.

This commitment is giving the extended family of the Crawford, Lawrence, and Dorsey founders a place to always call home.

A call was made to our local Carroll Pump and Well Service and upon arrival, owner Joel Carroll quickly felt the spirit for what needed to be done and the strain upon the hands-on active members.

Joel, without hesitation, came to the rescue and donated the repair out of our common bond to secure a place for worship.

This good deed just goes to show the power of faith and “Where there is a WELL, God will make a way!” Thank you, Carroll Pump and Well Service!
