Bragging about downtown businesses
Dear editor: I am back being nosy, sorry, I meant to say concerned again. I have enjoyed a very busy two weeks. It was great.
To the Eatonton Gardenerd, for your great advice, sorry, it didn’t work. I really think the birds gang up together and play tricks on me. I think they spread seeds in all my containers, and a small forest starts, helped out by mother nature and an abundant amount of rain. I promise not to complain again. I will slow down, take a moment and enjoy the scenery.
Again, I continue to brag about the shops and restaurants around town. They are needed, and we are proud of them, too. Again, we are so proud of Eat-A-Ton Café reopening.
Again, we are happy “Taste of Eatonton” is back Oct. 1, and tickets are $10. Be sure to attend.
Oh, I must tell you about my great weekend. On Friday and Saturday, I met people from all over at Uncle Remus Museum. I pulled out my portable soapbox and bragged on our city and county. Remember, I am Putnam County’s volunteer promoter, and I love this position.
On Sunday, I attended a wonderful event at Parks Ferry. It was the Bullard family celebration (remembering the history of the family) and enjoying a day of fun. The rain didn’t dampen our spirit one bit. I met cousins that I have not seen in years. I remind everyone that we need to talk to grandparents and learn your family’s history. I also say, “You can’t measure your progress if you erase the past.” I was reminded that I was the oldest living descendant at the gathering. You can imagine I quickly did my Texas two-step.
Thought for today: A good student listens, tries, learns, applies… then turns to help others find their way.
