MAC Youth Rally a success

Dear editor:

Oh what an absolutely beautiful day, one that we haven’t seen before and another day to cherish. The weather today is cooler. We can get lots of chores done before three digits come over us again.

My yard, oh my yard is a small jungle, flowers, vines, grass and some unrecognizable plants growing, but I love every inch of it.

Last week, Mothers Against Crime held the annual youth rally at the best kept secret in Putnam County (Oconee Springs Park). The place is absolutely beautiful, and the event building is indescribable. I enjoyed every inch of the place. The lake was filled up with people, and we had a great time as usual. Sgt. Bubba Stanford with DNR gave all of us a great presentation as usual. We learned so much. Putnam County Fire Dept. with Ayden Cook, Ethen Cobb and Rodriguez Warren stood tall in uniform and gave the young people plenty of safety points. A representative with the Garden Club prompted us all to get interested in clean-up and to make blighted areas look great. We are very interested! Bryan Hall came back again this year, and his speech to all of us was the most uplifting talk as usual. We definitely cannot forget our clowns (Mischief and Nonsense). They are always a big hit with the balloon animals. We definitely can’t forget Ms. Susan, Mr. Lonnie and the entire staff. They went all out to make us welcome and comfortable. Remember they are an asset to the community. Thank you Mac members for all the hard work over 30 years; you are great. As we were leaving Oconee Springs Park, a young man (apparently a teenager) walked by and said, “God bless you all.” Those were words that are important in my heart, and I won’t forget.

Don’t forget everyone that the annual gospel singing will be held July 9 at Putnam County Middle School at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10. Refreshments served. Come help us celebrate and remember, delighting in the Lord is not a spiritual discipline but rather an inevitability for those who love God.

God Bless –

Georgia Benjamin-Smith

P.S. Again, thanks to our sponsors for the youth rally: Farmers & Merchants Bank and Peoples Bank.
