Jalon Kilgore named finalist for 2025 Blanchard Rogers award

Jalon Kilgore, a Putnam High School graduate, has been named a finalist for the 2025 Blanchard Rogers Award, presented annually by the South Carolina Football Hall of Fame.

The Blanchard-Rogers trophy honors the most outstanding collegiate football player with ties to South Carolina through birth, high school, or college.

Kilgore recently graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health, demonstrating his commitment to excellence both on and off the field. In addition to his academic success, he has officially declared for the NFL Draft, taking the next step toward his professional football career.

On the field, Jalon earned All-SEC Team honors, while his dedication in the classroom secured him recognition as an Academic All-SEC All-American—a rare and respected combination that reflects discipline, focus, and integrity.

Kilgore’s parents, James and Tammy Kilgore, shared their pride and gratitude following the announcement: “Our cup truly runs over. We are incredibly thankful to God and proud of Jalon—not just for what he has accomplished on the field, but for the man he has become. He has stayed grounded, worked hard, and carried himself with integrity every step of the way. This recognition means a great deal to our family and affirms that faith, discipline, and education still matter.”

Now, Kilgore needs the support of the community that helped shape him.

Putnam County families are invited to go vote for the former Putnam County football star and help him bring the honor home.

“Your continued support has meant everything and continues to make a difference,” said James Kilgore. “Thank you for standing behind one of Putnam County’s finest. The journey continues — and the best is still ahead.”
