Soccer players commit to GMC JC

Georgia Military College (GMC) recently announced that four GMC Preparatory School soccer team members – Colby Avery, Levi Ward, Emma Evans and Ryley Taylor – have committed to continuing their athletic and academic careers at GMC at the junior college level.

“We are proud of these student-athletes and their commitment to both their athletic and academic pursuits,” GMC Junior College Athletic Director Rob Manchester said. “At GMC, we believe in the power of sports to help students develop leadership, teamwork, and perseverance, and we are excited to see these young men and women continue to grow and excel on and off the field.”

All four players were standouts on the GMC Prep School boys’ and girls’ teams. The boys’ team enjoyed a successful season that culminated in them earning a spot in the state championship, while the girls’ team made it to the second round of state playoffs.

The players will begin their academic and athletic careers at GMC in the fall, where they will join a strong soccer program with a tradition of success.

The junior college men’s soccer team finished the 2023 season as back-to-back GCAA conference champions and made their second-straight appearance at the NJCAA national championship tournament, while the junior college women’s team was runner-up in the GCAA championship.
