Plenty of pre-final drama at Martinsville

Christopher Bell had another miracle in his pocket, but Ross Chastain stole the show with a scarcely believable video-game move in the final corners of the Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway. For the second time in as many rounds in the Cup Series Playoffs, Bell won a race he had to win.

Cougars’ comeback concerning for Gators

The Gatewood Gators held a slim 28-26 advantage at the end of three quarters in Eatonton Friday night, but their grip slipped in the fourth, allowing the Piedmont Academy Cougars to take a 42-28 win home to Monticello.

Bulldogs’ Bowers praised following Florida win

Georgia tight end Brock Bowers had a career day last week against Florida. The sophomore pass catcher hauled in five receptions for a career-high 154 yards and a TD on Saturday in the top-ranked Bulldogs’ 42-20 win over the Gators.
