War Eagles drop first match of the season

No. 3 Jasper County recently handed top-ranked Putnam County its first loss of the regular season, edging the War Eagles 2-1 in a closely contested matchup last Friday.The result split the season series between the two teams, as Putnam County won the first meeting 2-1 on Feb. 24.

PCHS boys, girls earn All-Region basketball honors

The Putnam County basketball teams celebrated standout seasons, as several players from both the boys’ and girls’ programs earned All-Region recognition.On the boys’ side, Jmari Greene was named Region Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

The Putnam County baseball team cruised past Alcovy last week, sweeping the series with two commanding victories.The War Eagles rolled to 14-0 and 14-3 wins over the Class 5A Tigers, improving their overall record to 5-6.

Lady War Eagles fall in Final Four

Putnam County’s historic postseason journey came to an end March 7 in the Class A Division I Final Four, as No. 12 seed Elbert County upset the No. 8 Lady War Eagles 48–45 in a thrilling semifinal in Fort Valley.
